Hey everyone, quick update. We just launched a new feature called Threaded Comments. You will now have two different options to choose from when viewing comments. You can view them in the classic format that you're all used to, or the Threaded version which will put put replies in-line with the first comment post - this should make reading conversations MUCH easier! We should have a blog post up soon clarifying everything and addressing any questions you may have! http://startlike.blogspot.com

135-140ish probably 4 years is my guess maybe 160lbs. They always look bigger from the back and not a ton of mass plus crab claws at the tips.. Great tine length an absolute shooter most places I would say. Awesome trail cam pic.

@pete he's a GREAT buck and should be judged relative to our herd but I feel pretty good with my guess. If he had northern whitetail type mass he would be close to 150 but I just know how our bucks score....we get pretty racks that look good on the wall but the lack of mass hurts on the scoring bench.
Another thing to note is the size of the deer itself...I'd say this boy weighs about 165-170lbs. If this was a 250lb Iowa body with relative sized antlers he's be 180"...lol
Again - still a great buck! Good luck William. He would be a great shooter on any farm in the state for sure.

this photo was taken in Oct at about 6:10 am outside of Chesterfield, SC. This particular stand is in the middle of about 100 acres of wooded area that includes hardwoods, pine stands and a nasty swamp bottom with beaver ponds. This particular buck has been spotted a few times but never had a chance for a shot. I'm not sure how he would score, i've never found any sheds.

@ Ryan...if I see truck hunters that far out, I will report them. They are suppose to stay on dirt roads and paths in national forrest (which is where I'll be hunting). I hate to see habitats destroyed just because a few hunters are too lazy to walk a mile or two.
@Jeff...so only 133-138 huh? I was figuring it was bigger than that. He looks to be pretty wide even with his head at an angle (which would make the beams appear closer together) and I know his ears are laying down but I still doubt they would reach tops of his brow tines.
Hopefully William will be able to harvest this nice trophy and we can find out what he grew into!

That was a pretty interesting article.
@ Pete. I don't know those truck hunters are getting farther and farther out. I was about two miles off a dirt road last year and this truck went driving by. It took a good half hour for everything to calm down. I am not the biggest fan ever of driving thru the woods in a truck. On the plus side we drew tags for a good unit out here this year so there will be less hunters which is always a bonus :-)

@Pete - put me down for 133-138. The angle here blows him up a little bit and his ears are back. This is an AWESOME SC buck but we just don't get the mass that lets our deer really score big....but still very nice. William M. if you are in here today tell us a little more about the photo. How large is the tract where this boy roams and what kind of trophy management are you guys doing.

This photo was taken just north of my farm in SC....i have a few "ghosts" like this walking around too but they are super nocturnal. Only chance is in the rut or something crazy happens.

@ Pete - I totally agree with and about the article. It was one of the most insightful articles that I have seen tagged to a photo since the start of this channel. About scoring, I have never really been a good judge when it comes to scoring. I would guess that this would be a solid three year old but possibly an early four by the swelling in his neck. Coloration and pigment tone suggest that he's probably closer to three and 1/2. From this angle he looks to dress about 150ish.
