@Alison - So I didn't get a chance to check your reply until today. Personally I would love to go to Yellowstone, but I don't know if I can organize everyone to take off more time to do it. It'd be about a days drive for us. Maybe I'll test the waters and see what my family thinks of that -- maybe taking a little bit longer of a camping trip.

@Michelle- you should plan your camping trip to Yellowstone!!! kill two birds with one stone!
@Alison - I am also very much looking forward to camping this summer! I've actually already started planning my extended family's camping trip - my parents, 3 brothers and their families, and my husband and I. I've found it's best to start now before all their summers are booked.

Today's picture really has me looking forward to getting out more. The big snow from December is just now melting off of the trails (not helped by additions of snow in January). The snow was great fun when it fell, but I like to see grass, too.

@John I know access if often denied due to threat of these law suits, but how often do the lawsuits actually happen? The amount of funding support may not need to be incredibly high for an effective defense. Perhaps the mere existance of a fund that would protect landowners if trouble did arise would encourage some to open lands.
It would be a defense against a lot of set judicial precedence if a suit arose, but one worth making.

This picture makes me want to leave right now and go camping - even if it's below 40 degrees.

@John - I agree with your premise - have you spoken to any legal types - while difficult to achieve, you have to have an ideal to start with and see what might be the result - i'm speaking clearly of due process rather than this particular subject - i'd support and fight for it!

@QOTD. I agree with the idea, but no I don't think there would be enough support for a defense fund. We pay for someone else? I think maybe a change to laws instead might make it harder to sue.

QOTD Do y'all think that support could be found for a legal defense fund setup to protect individuals and landowners from frivolous lawsuits that might arise from public use of lands? This might allow more open use of some land, well, that and people respecting what they have access to.

Okay, very nice. I would be the one to point this out, from the picture it does not look like a Tread Lightly setup, but.....
